Can you believe it's already JUNE!!!! Holy Smokes!!!! There's so much to fill everyone in on. The last few months have been chocked full with miles and miles on the road bikes. I have to say I beg to differ with Pete in his last post about it not being realistic to race Cat 1 Road. Road Racing is all about tactics. Its drives a Mountain biker crazy when he gets with the roadies, everyone rides in a pack, huggin' wheels, and then he attackes to win the race and all those guys who sat on your wheel leading up to the finish slingshot past you with gas to spare. WHAT?!! It's all about tactics! How you train, how you race, and how you eat, sleep, and how you finish! With that said i have to add that I LOVE IT!!!! The head game is so fun to play with. It's like a game of chess. Analyzing opponents and how they look and sound. Hearing them wheeze behind you either means they're gassed and bonking, OR it means they're playing the head game as good or better than you. Once you attack on them they stick you're wheel and that wheezing bonking opponent becomes the guy who just kicked your butt!.
April and May were months of Mountain climbing. Races like the The Breathless agony, 114 miles with 12,000 feet of climbing, The Mt Whitney Stage Race, 2 days, 56 miles, 14,000 feet of climbing. Idyllwild Spring Challenge. All these races just boosted confidence in whats possible on a bike and how far the legs can be punished. Coming up this weekend is the Santa Barbara Kenda/US cup state race. Looking forward to a great time with the team as well as fast racing. See ya'll there!!!
